A native of Kampala, Kajjimu Moses is CEO and co-founder of Serve A Smile Foundation.

At the age of 11, Kajjimu lost his father to HIV, and by the time he was 16, he’d lost his mother to the same disease.

Raised by a single mother and then orphaned, he had to pay for his own school tuition from the age of 16. Nonetheless, he remained in school, eventually earning his A-Level diploma at Kanyanda Standard Secondary School.

After finishing his A-Level, Kajjimu went to South Sudan and started working as a driver for country directors of the Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP), a Japanese organization that works in war conflict affected countries, and CCC.

When war broke out in South Sudan in 2016, he fled back to Uganda. The following year, he started his own business in Kampala, where he is a used clothing wholesaler.

After growing up with only one parent and then having to make his own way as a teenager, and having seen the impact of war and poverty on children, Kajjimu is determined to bring relief from suffering.

As Serve A Smile Foundation CEO, Kajjimu is responsible for developing and delivering the organisation’s business plan, providing leadership and overseeing the administration.

“The world needs each of us to help. If I look at where I came from and where I am now, I would love to see many orphans similarly making it to the top and sharing ideas with the world. My goal is to create equality so that the poor have access to education and exposure. There is nothing that makes life harder in this world than being an uneducated person. Everyone should get a chance to learn or go to school and gain at least a basic level of knowledge to function successfully in the world.”
